    Step by Step Guide to a UPVC Windows Installation.

     

    Preparation

    3. Use packers or spacers to position the frame and maintain a 5mm expansion gap around the edges34.
    4. Drill through the frame into the brickwork, typically 150mm from the top and bottom, and fix the frame firmly without distorting it3.

    Glazing

    1. Remove the glazing beads, starting with the longest ones.
    2. Position glass packers about 100mm from each corner.
    3. Place the double-glazed unit into the frame, ensuring it’s correctly positioned on the glass packers.
    4. Refit the glazing beads, starting with the shortest lengths and using a rubber mallet to tap them into place4.

    Sealing and Finishing

    1. Apply expanding foam around the frame for additional insulation and fixing4.
    2. Seal the frame to the internal wall3.
    3. Use masking tape around the frame’s perimeter before applying a smooth bead of silicone sealant externally3.
    4. Remove the masking tape and clean any excess sealant3.
    5. Finally, remove any protective tape or labels and clean the glass and uPVC surfaces.

    It’s important to note that while this process can be done as a DIY project, consulting with a window industry professional is recommended, especially for those without experience in UPVC windows installation.
