A quick overview on costs from local Kingston Upon Thames Windows companies are as follows:
Sash Windows are a classically British style of window. A sash window has two layers of double glazing – one at the top and one at the bottom. The sash window uses the frame as a tramline so that you can slide one of the layers normally vertically. You slide the bottom layer up the tramline to open the window. You can fully open the window by bringing the bottom layer fully up to the level of the top layer or you can just open it gradually to your own preference. UPVC White Sash Windows Companies in Kingston Upon Thames charge on average: 500mm x 500mm £535 – £590, 1000mm x 500mm £610 – £695, 1000mm x 1000mm £635 – £700, 1200mm x 1200mm £740 – £815. Please add around 25% to the costs for coloured UPVC frames.
Sash windows don’t open on a hinge. They are vertically opening windows generally associated with traditional and older properties.
A sash window consists of two framed windows – one is positioned in front of the other. This is more generally referred to as a sliding sash window. These windows units sit in frames with vertical grooves that allow them to move up and down smoothly without any danger of one frame rubbing against the other and damaging it. The up and down movement of the sashed is assisted by counterbalances – weights on cords and pulleys. These counter balances can be hidden within the frame or exposed on the inside of the window.
There are 2 main benefits of Sash Windows. Firstly they are aesthetically pleasing particularly for older properties. A lot of Georgian and Victorian properties were built with sash windows so keeping with tradition and replacing sash windows with new sash windows is quite important. Secondly the other benefit is better ventilation. Because sliding sash windows can open at the top and bottom at the same time they provide excellent ventilation. Having an aperture at the top and bottom creates a convection flow of air that will cool a room wonderfully in the summer.

Kingston upon Thames formed an ancient parish in the Kingston hundred of Surrey. The parish of Kingston upon Thames covered a large area including Hook, Kew, New Malden, Petersham, Richmond, Surbiton, Thames Ditton and East Molesey.[13]
The town of Kingston was granted a charter by King John in 1200, but the oldest one to survive is from 1208 and this document is housed in the town’s archives. Other charters were issued by later kings, including Edward IV’s charter that gave the town the status of a borough in 1481.
The borough covered a much smaller area than the ancient parish, although as new parishes were split off the borough and parish eventually became identical in 1894. The borough was reformed by the Municipal Corporations Act 1835, becoming the Municipal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames (then spelt with hyphens). It had been known as a Royal borough through custom and the right to the title was confirmed by George V in 1927.[14] Kingston upon Thames was the seat of Surrey County Council when it moved from Newington in 1893 through until 2021 despite not being governed by it.
